Istanbul, April 6, 2023
Press Release
IFAT Eurasia International Environmental Technologies Specialized Fair is preparing to meet with all its stakeholders by maintaining its title as the most important fair of the Eurasia region in the field it represents. Organized by EKO MMI Fuarcılık, IFAT Eurasia Fair will take place between 27-29 April 2023 at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center.
All stand areas planned for the fair have been purchased by the participating organizations and an additional hall has been put into service due to the ongoing demand. With panels and meetings to be held within the scope of IFAT Eurasia, which is expected to reach around 20 thousand visitors this year, a series of issues related to the present and future of the environmental technologies sector will be discussed by experts, scientists and sector representatives.
Started in 1964 in Germany and now organized 4 times in China, 2 times in India and 1 time in South Africa, the IFAT family of fairs is organized every two years alternately in Munich and Istanbul. IFAT Eurasia International Environmental Technologies Specialized Fair represents the IFAT Fairs family in the Eurasia Region.
CARBON REGULATION AT THE BORDER IS AN IMPORTANT AGENDA
EKO Fuarcılık Fairs Manager Namık Sarıgöl reminded that IFAT Eurasia Fair will host countries, organizations and companies that are in technological cooperation and trade relations with Europe in the field of environmental technologies and said, “The EU’s environmentalist practices, especially the Carbon Regulation at the Border, will more closely affect countries like Turkey that export to the EU. In this case, it will become easier and advantageous for countries with low emissions or countries whose decarbonization policies are more compatible with the EU to trade with the EU tax-free or with very low taxes. Countries with high emissions, such as China, India and Turkey, will be disadvantaged in trade with the EU as they will incur additional carbon costs. We can overcome this situation with breakthroughs in waste management, recycling and waste-to-energy.”.
ZERO WASTE CONCEPT SHOULD NEVER FALL OFF THE AGENDA
Stating that IFAT Eurasia Fair, which will open its doors on April 27, 2023, will continue to offer solutions to environmental problems, Namık Sarıgöl said that there are new developments in waste management every day and new technologies come into play. Sarıgöl; “Waste management and economic evaluation are among the most important problems of today. Proportionally, the wastes generated by urban life carry great weight. A process management need arises between the collection and processing of waste. Although the collection of urban waste is mainly under the authority and responsibility of local governments, the effective and conscious participation of individuals and households in this process constitutes the most important denominator in solving this problem according to the zero waste system.”
Sarıgöl also emphasized that IFAT Eurasia is taking place at a time when Europe is looking for new solutions to the energy crisis, renewable energy is gaining popularity, energy saving has become more important and waste management and circular economy are indispensable, and said, “In this respect, we know that IFAT Eurasia undertakes a very important mission. The huge increase in demand for participation in the fair reflects the growing need for technological developments and innovations in waste management as well as environmental technologies.”
SCIENTIFIC AND MULTILATERAL EFFORTS ARE REQUIRED
Sarıgöl emphasized that as cities grow and population density increases, waste management requires more scientific, multilateral and well-organized systems: “Our seas are polluted by the wastes carried by the rivers flowing into these seas and these wastes threaten the living life in the waters. So if we can keep the rivers clean and prevent pollution, we can save the seas.
But industrial waste water carried by rivers is not the only pollutant. The oil we use in our homes, which gets into the sewage system, causes much bigger problems than expected. The atmosphere is also being structurally transformed by pollution caused by a series of human activities and is one of the causes of global climate change. Global pollution, which starts at the micro level, combines with other factors and becomes difficult to prevent on a macro level.”.
SOLID WASTE RECYCLING IS AN IMPORTANT TOPIC
Namık Sarıgöl; “Solid waste management is undoubtedly an issue related to the definition and classification of waste. In developed western countries, the separation and classification of domestic wastes has been settled into a system to a significant extent. It can be said that the collection and recycling of these wastes, as well as the classification of household wastes, works as an integrated system. The development of collection and processing systems is very important for the sorting and recycling of solid waste. Local governments need to encourage households more in this regard and create more advanced collection systems.”
WE WELCOME ALL STAKEHOLDERS TO IFAT EURASIA
Stating that IFAT Eurasia International Environmental Technologies Specialized Fair will open its curtains by breaking its own sectoral records, Sarıgöl said; “Our Fair, which we think is the most important event that appeals to those who want to follow sectoral innovations in our region, will be an unmissable environment to present Turkey’s development and claim in this field to national and international visitors.IFAT Eurasia 2023, which will be opened by doubling the figures of 2021 with the number of exhibitors close to 350 and the exhibition area to be used with the participation of national and international individual companies, international companies that will participate through their representative offices and German, Austrian, Chinese and Swiss collective country participations, will continue to fulfill its duty by bringing together technology providers, decision makers from various countries and industry stakeholders who will open people’s horizons about where the industry will go in the coming years. “ and invited the stakeholders of the environmental technologies sector to come together under the roof of IFAT Eurasia between April 27-29.
