IFAT Eurasia 2025 reaffirmed its position as the leading environmental technology platform for water management, waste treatment, and other environmental technology solutions in the Eurasian region.
Held from May 15 to 17, 2025, at the Istanbul Tüyap Fair Center, the event brought together 240 exhibitors from 14 countries to present cutting-edge technologies for sustainable resource management and circular economy solutions. With 41 percent of exhibitors coming from abroad, driven by strong participation from China, Germany, Italy, India, and the Czech Republic, the fair highlighted its growing international significance. “The increase from 26 percent to 41 percent international exhibitors in just two years demonstrates IFAT Eurasia’s global pull,” said Katharina Schlegel, Global Industry Lead IFAT & Head of IFAT Trade Fairs Abroad, Messe München.
Visitor-wise, IFAT Eurasia 2025 maintained its strong position with approximately 10,000 visitors from 74 countries.
Exhibitors reported strong interest and promising leads from Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia, reflecting the fair’s role as a key driver for innovation and international cooperation.
Celebrating a decade of partnership
This year marked the tenth anniversary of IFAT Eurasia since its 2015 premiere. To honor exhibitors who have joined every edition, an Award Ceremony recognized loyal participants dating back to the inaugural event. Among the recipients was Julia Egel, Advisor for International Programs at German Water Partnership, accepting on behalf of the German Pavilion.
“As founding supporting association of IFAT Eurasia, German Water Partnership is proud to have co-organized the German Pavilion since the very first edition in 2015. Our commitment has been—and remains—to showcase German water-technology excellence and to foster bilateral cooperation across Europe and Eurasia,” said Julia Egel.
“Over the last decade, IFAT Eurasia has evolved from a regional gathering into a pan-Eurasian environmental hub—driven by innovation, partnership and resilience,” noted Ilker Altun, CEO of EKO MMI.
Innovations in water and waste management
Amid rising environmental challenges, IFAT Eurasia 2025 showcased solutions for efficient water management and waste recovery. IoT-enabled monitoring, advanced membrane treatments for wastewater recycling, and AI-driven distribution planning illustrated how digital technologies are optimizing resource efficiency. The spotlight also turned to waste processing and circular economy initiatives. Enhanced sorting systems, innovative recycling technologies, and waste-to-energy solutions demonstrated how residues can be converted into valuable energy sources, reinforcing the industry’s commitment to sustainability.
“During IFAT EURASIA 2025, our team engaged with university professors, researchers, and industry professionals who expressed significant interest in strategies to optimize and reduce energy consumption in wastewater treatment plants. The high level of enquiries underscores a growing regional priority to align wastewater operations with sustainability goals and carbon reduction targets, particularly in energy-intensive sectors,” reported Felix Meyer-Horn, President Corporate Affairs, Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Germany.
Supporting program highlights international collaboration
IFAT Eurasia 2025’s supporting program underscored its international scope, featuring long-standing partners like IREMCON, ISWA and GWP. Key topics included AI-driven solutions for the circular economy, digitalization and automation in water resources management, and—most prominently—global textile recycling.
Under the banner “Second-hand is circular: the global second-hand clothing and textiles sector,” experts discussed sustainable business models, international trade, and advanced recycling technologies to combat textile waste. The sessions, organized with support from ISWA, highlighted how enhanced recycling methods and sustainable value chains can mitigate environmental impacts while supporting economic growth. The involvement of many other national and international entities and partners further solidified IFAT Eurasia’s role as a platform for global knowledge exchange and collaborative solutions in environmental technologies. The next IFAT Eurasia will be held in spring 2027 in Istanbul. For more information visit www.ifat-eurasia.com
