Istanbul, June 7, 2022
Press Release
With less than a year to go until the 2023 opening of IFAT Eurasia, the strongest meeting point of our region in Environmental Technologies and Waste Management, there is a serious increase in demand from both domestic and international companies to participate in the fair. It is observed that the desire and determination of international technology manufacturers to take part in the fair has increased due to the lifting of the pressure and restrictions created by the pandemic environment and the return of international flights in airlines.
EKO Fuarcılık Fairs Manager Namık Sarıgöl said that IFAT Eurasia International Environmental Technologies Fair will continue to offer solutions to environmental problems. Organized for the first time in Germany in 1966 and nowadays represented in 3 different cities in China, 2 different cities in India and South Africa every year, and held every two years alternately in Germany and Turkey, the IFAT group of fairs is the most important fairs in the world in this field. IFAT Eurasia will take place between April 27-29, 2023 at TÜYAP Convention and Exhibition Center.
Pointing out that the European Green Deal has made environmental technologies more and more important, Namık Sarıgöl said: “Turkey is the producer country of many equipment in the field of environmental technologies. At the same time, Turkey has a serious potential in the export of such products. The EU Green Deal, especially industrial waste, brings important criteria in waste management covering the period from today until 2025 and 2030. It aims to manage the waste generated in settlements, collect it at source and minimize it. In addition to the protection of potable water resources, the management of wastewater also stands out as a separate topic. IFAT Eurasia will be an important exhibition area for the promotion of these technologies.”
Stating that European countries have a great weight in the production for the sector, Sarıgöl said; “It is important to have direct participation from Europe as well as industrial organizations and suppliers in Turkey. In 2021, despite the pandemic, we had a good participation from both domestic and international manufacturers. In terms of visitors, nearby geographies, especially the Balkans, the Middle East, Iran and the Gulf countries, are important. We remind at every opportunity that IFAT Eurasia is the right address for both exhibitors and visitors. It is very important for all organizations operating in environmental technologies and waste management to participate in IFAT Eurasia. Geographically, IFAT Eurasia is in an ideal location. By shortening the distances, we are bringing the technologies to the feet of our visitors.”
IMPROVING OUR RECORD ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Stating that IFAT Turkey is an important platform and meeting point in terms of improving the industry’s record in Turkey in terms of environmental protection, Namık Sarıgöl said; “IFAT Fairs are an important center of attraction in countries with developed technology and industry. While Germany leads the industry in this field, we see Turkey as an important center of environmental technologies in the Eurasia region after China and India. Turkey also offers a number of logistical advantages for countries that both produce and demand environmental technologies and waste management systems. In particular, there are countries in our region with high investment needs in the field of environmental technologies. Turkey is a supplying country in this geography. Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa and Balkan countries are on Turkey’s radar. IFAT Eurasia and Istanbul is the right meeting point in this sense.”
THE IDEAL PLATFORM FOR NETWORKING
“Both networking, innovative information and products are shared at IFAT Eurasia,” said Mr. Namık Sarıgöl. ”The fair is also a common information pool for all exhibitors and visitors. Manufacturers get the chance to meet their suppliers. It is also an ideal opportunity for mutual benefit and synergy generation.
Waste management has many sub-headings. It is not possible to classify these sub-headings in order of importance. Therefore, it is necessary to realize waste management planning with a holistic approach. The fair also encourages producer organizations in Turkey to develop new technologies and new inventions. Visitors from other countries meet with machinery and equipment manufacturers and express their own needs. Each new need is an incentive for innovations. The fair creates the opportunity to see the embodiment of high technology”.
INVOLVEMENT OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
Namık Sarıgöl pointed out that every new regulation to be made by the public sector by considering common norms such as the Green Deal or the Paris Climate Agreement inevitably paves the way for new technologies.
Stating that the participation of both the private sector and public institutions in the fair is also important in terms of compliance with environmental technologies and regulations, Namık Sarıgöl gave the following information:
“The public is in an important position in terms of creating and supervising environmental policies. Local administrations are also the most important stakeholders in environmental technologies. Each step of waste collection, transportation, accumulation, separation and reuse requires separate technologies and equipment. Chemical and biological treatment of wastewater requires very advanced technologies. We don’t even want to think about the damage to our world in the medium and long term if harmful chemicals get into the soil or the sea. But it is not possible to prevent these damages without using technology.
Life goes on, and when making a decision, technologies need to be developed to facilitate and enable the implementation of that decision. Otherwise, decisions will remain on paper. On the other hand, the environmental impact of the technologies used in the overall production process must also be taken into consideration. As environmental awareness develops, the environmental compatibility of products and production processes will be a determining factor in every transaction, from public tenders to commercial sales, as well as the price and quality offered. IFAT Eurasia ultimately has a mission to facilitate these decisions”.
IFAT, which was held in Munich on May 30 – June 3 after a 4-year break due to the pandemic process, brought together 2,984 exhibitors from 59 countries with 119,000 visitors from 155 countries. 98 Turkish companies participated in IFAT, and the national participation organized by ITO attracted great interest.
