Istanbul, April 21, 2022
Press Release
–European Green Deal makes environmental technologies and waste management increasingly important.
–The EU Green Deal introduces important criteria and sanctions for the period up to 2025 and 2030.
–In addition to the protection and development of potable water resources, the management of wastewater also stands out as a separate topic.
–It is aimed to minimize the environmental impact of wastes in settlements by separating them at the source.
Started in 1966 in Germany and organized 3 times in China, 2 times in India and 1 time in South Africa and alternately in Munich and Istanbul, IFAT family fairs are the world’s most important Environmental Technologies event. As the rules governing environmental practices and waste management change and develop, the technologies in this field will continue to guide the sectors. Turkey is also the producer country of many equipment in environmental technologies and waste management. There is also a serious potential in the export of these products.
IFAT Eurasia IS IN INTENSIVE PREPARATION FOR SPRING 2023
Making evaluations on behalf of IFAT Eurasia International Environmental Technologies Specialization Fair, Namık Sarıgöl, Exhibitions Manager of EKO MMI Fuarcılık, stated that IFAT Eurasia Fair to be held in the spring of 2023 will continue to offer solutions to environmental problems and said that IFAT Eurasia is an important platform and meeting point in terms of improving the industry’s record in Turkey on environmental protection.
Namık Sarıgöl; “IFAT Fairs are an important center of attraction in countries with developed technology and industry. Germany leads the industry in this field. We serve Turkey to become the center of environmental technologies in the Eurasian region. Especially in our region, there are countries lagging behind in the use of environmental technologies. Turkey should be the supplying country in this geography. On the other hand, Turkey also offers significant logistical advantages for countries that both produce and demand the products used in environmental technologies. The Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa and the Gulf countries are on Turkey’s radar. IFAT Eurasia and Istanbul is an important meeting point in this sense.”
INNOVATIVE KNOWLEDGE CONVERGES
Namık Sarıgöl stated, “At IFAT Eurasia, not only are networks formed, but innovative knowledge and products are shared as well,” and continued:
“The fair acts as a common pool of knowledge for all participants and visitors. Manufacturers gain the opportunity to meet with their suppliers. At the same time, it provides an ideal platform for generating mutual benefit and synergy. The fair encourages manufacturing companies in Türkiye to engage with new technologies and innovations. Visitors from other countries meet with machinery and equipment manufacturers to express their specific needs. Each new requirement also serves as a catalyst for innovation. In a sense, the fair offers a unique opportunity to witness the materialization of many long-envisioned technologies.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR
Highlighting the significance of participation from both the private sector and public institutions in the fair as a key point of convergence in the use of environmental technologies and the development of regulations, Namık Sarıgöl said:
“IFAT Eurasia was first launched in Ankara. One of the main reasons for starting in Ankara was to attract the attention of public authorities and local governments to this field. The public sector plays a critical role in both formulating and implementing environmental policies. In environmental technologies, local administrations are among the most vital stakeholders. Each component of waste management—collection, transportation, storage, separation, and processing—requires distinct technologies and equipment. The chemical and biological treatment of wastewater necessitates highly advanced technologies. We do not even want to imagine the damage that harmful chemicals can cause if they reach the soil, underground water resources, or the sea. However, it is not possible to prevent these damages without the support of technology. Life goes on, and when decisions are made, the technologies that will facilitate and make the implementation of those decisions feasible must also be developed. Otherwise, there is a risk that such decisions will remain only on paper or will not be efficiently implemented. Moreover, the environmental impact of technologies and processes used across all production units must also be considered. Any new regulation developed in alignment with shared international frameworks, such as the Green Deal or the Paris Climate Agreement, will inevitably require the adoption of new technologies. As environmental awareness grows, the criterion of environmentally friendly production processes will become just as decisive as price and quality for all products. IFAT Eurasia has a mission to support and facilitate the fulfillment of these emerging requirements.”
TARGET AUDIENCE
Sarıgöl noted that they expect visitors predominantly from Middle Eastern and Balkan countries and said:
“International participation is as important as that of industrial organizations and suppliers from Türkiye. Despite the pandemic conditions in 2021, we achieved a satisfactory turnout both domestically and from nearby regions. We are working to demonstrate that IFAT Eurasia is the most appropriate platform in terms of both participants and visitors. It is vital for all organizations operating in the fields of environmental technologies and waste management to participate in IFAT Eurasia. We are shortening distances and bringing technologies directly to our visitors.”
